1) When NASA began the launch of astronauts into space, they found out that the pens wouldn't work at zero gravity (Ink won't flow down to the writing surface). In order to solve this problem, it took them one decade and $12 million. They developed a pen that worked at zero gravity, upside down, underwater, in practically any surface including crystal and in a temperature range from below freezing to over 300 degrees C.
And what did Russians do........................................
The Russians used a Pencil!!!
2) One of the most memorable case studies on Japanese management was the case of the empty soap box, which happened in one of Japan's biggest cosmetics companies. The company received a complaint that a consumer had bought a soap box that was empty. Immediately the authorities isolated the problem to the assembly line, which transported all the packaged boxes of soap to the delivery department. For some reason, one soap box went through the assembly line empty. Management asked its engineers to solve the problem. Post-haste, the engineers worked hard to devise an X-ray machine with high-resolution monitors manned by two people to watch all the soap
boxes that passed through the line to make sure they were not empty. No doubt, they worked hard and they worked fast but they spent whoopee amount to do so.
But when a rank-and-file employee in a small company was posed with the same problem, did not get into complications of X-rays, etc but instead came out with another solution.
He bought a strong industrial electric fan and pointed it at the assembly line. He switched the fan on, and as each soap box passed the fan, it simply blew the empty boxes out of the line.
Moral of the story:
Keep It Simple.
Always look for simple solutions.
Devise the simplest possible solution that solves the problem.
Learn to focus on solutions not on problems.

The law of the seed
Take a look at an apple tree. There might be five hundred apples on the tree, each with ten seeds. That's a lot of seeds.
We might ask, "Why would you need so many seeds to grow just a few more trees?"
Nature has something to teach us here.
It's telling us: "Most seeds never grow. So if you really want to make something happen, you had better try more than once.
This might mean:
You'll attend twenty interviews to get one job.
You'll interview forty people to find one good employee.
You'll talk to fifty people to sell one house, car, vacuum?cleaner, insurance policy, or idea. And you might meet a hundred acquaintances to find one special friend.
When we understand the "Law of the Seed", we don't get so disappointed. We stop feeling like victims. Laws of nature are not things to take personally. We just need to understand them - and work with them.
In a nutshell
Successful people fail more often. They plant more seeds.
When Things Are Beyond Your Control, Here's a recipe for permanent misery:
a) Decide how you think the world SHOULD be.
b) Make rules for how everyone SHOULD behave. Then, when the world doesn't obey your rules, get angry! That's what miserable people do!
Let's say you expect that:
Friends SHOULD return favors.
People SHOULD appreciate you.
Planes SHOULD arrive on time.
Everyone SHOULD be honest.
Your husband SHOULD remember your birthday.
These expectations may sound reasonable.
But often, these things won't happen!
So you end up frustrated and disappointed.
There's a better strategy. Have less demands.
Instead, have preferences! For things that
are beyond your control, tell yourself:
"I WOULD PREFER "A", BUT IF "B" HAPPENS, IT'S OK TOO!" This is really a game that you play in your head.
It is a shift in attitude, and it gives you more peace of mind. You prefer that people are
polite ... but when they are rude, it doesn't ruin your day. You prefer sunshine ... but rain is ok!
To become happier, we either need to
a) change the world, or
b) change our thinking.
It is easier to change our thinking!
Therefore...
It's not what happens to you that determines your happiness.
It's how you think about what happens to you
Cheers.

A Friend to Remember
She is an outspoken girl. I know her during my studies in Alpha. We met each other at taekwondo training. Still fresh in my mind, she like to joke and play around. But she can be quite serious. YuenYee, YokeYin, she and I become so close during taekwondo camp. They are three in a group and I join them when I being arranged to stay under one tent with them. We cook together, hunt for water together. I can still remember, in one of our group photo, we act weird together. :) But it is really bad that I didn't able to keep a clear photo of her, not even one piece. All the photo I have with her are too small and can't really see her face. That is another reason for me to keep on shooting the photo of you, my fellow friends. I wish to keep everyone of you in my mind, or at least in my photo album. Every moment and everything happened. :)
She like to play Chinese Chess, which I like too. She ever promised me that she will play with me one day in future. But that become forever words from she. She are not breaking her promise. But she can never fulfil what she said. However, she will be my firend forever.
She is Wendy, who I miss so much.

Dean of FOE MMU
He is Prof Chuah, dean of Faculty of Engineering in MMU. I just so lucky that get a chance to take a shoot on him. May be everyone will think that "wah, dean leh, he should get a very high paid". If you are a good student who attend Dean's meeting every year, you will get a chance to listen to his experience in dealing with students. Sometime, you will found that there are still some students who are so rude. I believe that Prof Chuah has his own workload to be completed and not only to deal with students. Why not the students be more considerate and try to respect him? :) However, that is just a small group of students. From his back, I can feel that there are some problems running through his mind. :) How about you? What you can see from this photo? :)
Who I met on 18-9-2006
Traffic light. :D Before you scroll down, let's guess who are they?
Su Tsong and Michael. Someone out there ever call SuTsong as Sotong. :D However, both of them are quite close to each another. :) By the way, SuTsong is interested in buying digital camera. Anyone have any suggestion to him? :) Well, for me, the Nikon camera I own currently is not that bad. Before this, Mr Fox told me that 3x zoom is not really enough. I disagree with him. But now, I change my stand and feel quite agree with him. :) :D However, if you are just want to use the camera in shooting during outing. Any camera will do. :) But a few question you can ask yourself before you buy one. How much zoom you want it to have? Try to buy the camera with analog zoom rather than digital zoom. What is the user review you can found online? Do you want a purely camera or a camera + video cam? Erm... I think that's all I can think of now. :)
Yao Hui. He is one of my Alpha year group mate. I know him all because of Han Lun.
Ah Lei and Eunice. :D
Li Wei and Alan. Li Wei is a gal who are quite pretty actually. But seen like my hand is not that steady after I use the zoom. :) Nevermind, there is always a next time shot for LiWei. :D

Photos on 17-09-2006
Today is a cloudy day. Cloudy day always make me down. But the camera in my hand will cheer me up again. :)
A tree to be remember. :) Tree just like our parent. When we are kids, they protect us. I truly respect my friend who can still accompany their parent out for shopping or for other purposes. Salute to you, if you are one of them. :)
A condo. Using Digital zoom in for this photo taking. Well, quite satisfy with the output. :)
Macro mode. Not really satisfy with this. A bit blur. :) When you use zoom in, you must have a very steady hand. :)
The flower. Macro mode without flash.
Macro mode with flash.
MacDonald. The place I never visit before until I come to MMU. :D Believe it or not? :)
Sue Anne say I scared the dog. The dog look so pity. Sue suggest me to adopt the dog. But, I think it is too early to think so. :) I didn't have my own house. :) How if I adopt it in hostel? :D Mission impossible. :D
After photo shooting, before the sky started to cry, I better have my dinner before go back. :)
Mamak restaurant. I like the nasi lemak and maggi goreng here. :D

The numbering beside the pronounciation just after the mandarin word is the sound in mandarin. There are 4 level of sound. But there are some expert of mandarin always viewing my blog. :D They will correct me or answer your question, I believe. :D

[Joke] Lipstick
According to a news report, a certain private school recently was faced with a unique problem.
A number of middle school girls were beginning to use lipstick and would put it on in the bathroom. That was fine, but after they put on their lipstick they would press their lips to the mirror leaving dozens of little lip prints.
Every night, the maintenance man would remove them and the next day, the girls would put them back.
Finally the principal decided that something had to be done. She called all the girls to the bathroom and met them there with the maintenance man.
She explained that all these lip prints were causing a major problem for the maintenance man who had to clean the mirrors every night.
To demonstrate how difficult it had been to clean the mirrors, she asked the maintenance man to show the girls how much effort was required.
He took out a long-handled squeegee, dipped it in the toilet, and cleaned the mirror with it.
Since then, there have been no lip prints on the mirror.

[Joke] Medical Claim - 18sx
A couple went to a sex therapists office at ABC Hospital.
The doctor asked, "What can I do for you?"
The man said, "Will you watch us having sex, for your expert analysis?"
The doctor looked puzzled, but agreed.
When the couple finished, the doctor said, "There's nothing wrong withtheway you have intercourse" and charged them Rm60
This happened several weeks in a row.The couple would make an Appointment, have intercourse with no problems, pay the doctor and then leave.
Finally the doctor asked, "Just exactly what are you trying to findout?"
The man said, "We're not trying to find out anything. She's marriedAnd we can't go to her house - I'm married and we can't go to my house.Shangri-la Putrajaya charges Rm. 250, Mandarin Oriental charges Rm.280,Le Meridian charges Rm.230.We do it here for Rm.60, and I get that back from "MedicalClaim".......!
